The title, “…We Shall Have to Begin with the Children…” offers a snapshot of India, discussing some of the many challenges, visiting the slums of Dharavi, and focusing primarily on the humanitarian aid of World ANCER. ANCER’s work focuses on a school for children who would otherwise not receive an education, a home for many children, and providing care to those in need in the community, including a leprosy colony.
This article was indeed a labor of love, taking a few weeks to write, and just as long to photograph. You might see a few other pages with my photographs in this issue, but this is the most rewarding piece, and I believe some of my best work of my life. The five page feature was written and photographed by yours truly, and my greatest hope is that it brings a voice to the people in ANCER’s community. Thanks to all who helped make this work possible and kept pushing this story forward. Please check out the magazine today to read all about the story and let us know what you think! If you are not in the Lancaster area, please let me know and I’ll pick up a copy for you. Thanks so much!
